Tyra’s Testimony: A Home Designed for Family, Access, and Stability

Tyra’s Testimony: A Home Designed for Family, Access, and Stability

For Tyra and her family, having a home means having a space that supports their daily reality. Through Community Land Trust of Oroville, Tyra was able to move into a new home that was built specifically to meet her family’s needs.

The home was designed with her son in mind. Accessibility was a necessary part of the build, not an add-on. Features such as ramps and lifts allow Tyra to move through the home more easily while caring for her son. The layout supports daily routines that were previously difficult, including being able to roll her son directly into the shower. This design eliminates the need for lifting or physical strain and makes day-to-day care more manageable for both of them.

Beyond accessibility, the new home has also removed the burden of ongoing maintenance. For Tyra, not having to worry about repairs on top of everything else she manages has made a meaningful difference.

Tyra describes her experience working with Community Land Trust of Oroville as supportive and hands-on. Throughout the process, the partnership felt easy and helpful, with consistent involvement from the CLT team.

Affordability played a critical role, too. Without Community Land Trust, a home like this would have been far beyond Tyra’s budget. Through the CLT model, she was able to access a home that meets her family’s needs while remaining financially achievable.

Tyra’s testimony reflects the purpose of Community Land Trust of Oroville: creating affordable homes designed for real people, real families, and real needs.
